Jesica and Clayton DeLong met through friends in the Kansas City Jazz scene over a decade ago. A few years later they formed A La Mode, a gypsy jazz group of anywhere from two to seven members depending on the night. They soon developed a reputation for being one of KC’s hardest working groups playing 4-6 shows a week. During this time they became highly sought out for their authentic prohibition-era sound. They worked roaring twenties parties throughout the Midwest and the idea for Prohibition Parties was born.
While working these parties they worked with countless performers and learned first hand from clients how hard it was to assemble a group of prohibition era performers. They began offering recommendations and were often asked to just take over the planning. With Clayton’s planning skills and Jesica’s attention to detail, the duo became known for the parties they planned. It was not long after became partners in business that they formally became partners in life. They were married in 2017 in a prohibition themed wedding and live in Kansas City with their dachshunds Petunia and Maggie.
